Loire Valley Travel Guide

travel.nytimes.com/travel/guides/europe/france/loire-valley/overview.html

This site contains a compilation of information concerning the Loire Valley.  Everything from exciting tour destinations to Loire restaurants is linked into this site so that you can know more about this beautiful vacation site.  The first thing on this travel guide page is a section that contains a series of articles that serves as an overview of Loire.  However, you will want to make sure to read the descriptions of the articles that are offered as some of them have been erroneously cross-referenced.  For instance, the first article on the list is about Cape Cod, not the Loire Valley.  There are some interesting articles on the page about Loire wine and the beautiful Loire countryside on the page as well though, so do not get too discouraged.

On the right hand side of the page there is a navigation bar that contains links to a “Where to Go” and “When to Go” section.  If you go to the area that is labelled for “When to Go” (or the best seasonal time to go) to it is actually an area for readers to share their knowledge and suggestions about the best time to visit Loire.  This way people can share their experiences about their visit to the Loire Valley so that you can judge the best time of year to go based on these past experiences and suggestions.

There are two different destinations that are listed under the “Where to Go” option.  These are Orleans and Tours.  If you go to either one of these they will take you to a page that has articles written about these topics.  However, underneath these two links there is another area for “Reader’s Suggestions.”  This area, like the other one allows readers to post up important information about their trips to the Loire Valley and what they enjoyed about the region.  Some of these reviews also include important information about Loire restaurants, hotels, and other tourist attractions.  One good thing about the site is that on the left hand side of the screen there is a box that will allow you to search for flight information to France so that you can begin your Loire travel plans.

Jim’s Loire

This site is a personal exploration of the Loire wine region and all that it has to offer.  There is a lot of information on the page as to what you can expect in Loire.  Each of the entries is different, and because the page is updated at regular intervals the order of the information available on them also changes regularly.  However, it is a good page to find out details about Loire so that you can best plan your vacation to the region.

For example, if you wanted to learn about the average temperatures of the region taken from the last ten years, there is a blog entry that covers this, and it even lists a table that gives the exact average temperate for each year for the months of July and August.  This way you can know about what you should expect when travelling to Loire and you can plan your dress accordingly.

There are also several different entries which go into great detail about Loire wine.  Besides going into detail about the wines available, there are also entries which cover books written about the wines.  Pictures are also included, and this can help anyone who is confused over the information that is being covered.  On the right hand side of the screen there is an extensive navigation bar that allows you to go through to older blog posts, and at the bottom of the screen there is even a link bar which you can use to visit sites for Loire restaurants.  This way, if you are interested in learning more about what kind of eating is available in the region you can quickly and easily access it from this location.  Directly underneath this is another section with links to Loire accommodations so that you can find out more about hotels in the area.

And, if you wanted to read more of the blogs about Loire, then at the top of the navigation bar is a link to past blogs that are relevant.  You can click on the titles of the ones that interest you to read them.  All of the titles cannot be easily listed, but you can go back through the blogs based on dates.
